The Duke and his Duchess Part 4

Gakupo sighd, he had Luka get Luna to the dctor immidately..But they said they had to keep her overnight, he was trying to sleep but he just couldn't, he tossed and turned. He stood, waaking t the window and looking at the city loming below his balcony "Please..Please Luna, don't leave me now..I just got you back" He said.

Luka stepped in and sighed "I had a feeling you would be up.." she said "Gakupo, there doing everyhthing they can...You and I both know she's a strong woman, I'm sure she'll be alright" she commented. He nodded, knowing she was right, Luna was stronger then Luka knew, he knew that because of what she had been through even before she left /..Left to protect me../ he thought.

Why, why didn't he go after her after she left? Was he really stupid enough to believe she meant what she said?! He should have been there to protect her, then he wouldn't have made that damned deal,  had this harem..She never would have had to have taken that wound in his stead. Tears stung his lavender eyes, it was his fault for being so selfish..."Luna..I'm so sorry.." he whispered "...When you make it through this, I'll make it up to you. I should never have believed what you were saying, I should have seen it in your eyes you never meant it. Then you wouldn't be in the hospital right now..."

Luka approached and put a hand to his shoulder "Gakupo, no..None of this was your fault, she did it because she had to to protect you. She loves you, more then anything in this world. That much is fully obvious after everything. I'll kee an eye on things here, go and see her..I'm sure she'd like to see you" she said.

He nodded putting n his coat, not caring that he was only in his white undershirt and black pants as he ran out to the hospital and came in, visiting hours were over but the nurse that watched Luna at night was one of the ones he had 'treated to a vacation', so she led him inside. Luna was bandaged, laying on the bed..The nurse told him it was still unsure if she would be alright or not, but the doctors would know if she made it through the night the chances of survival were high.

"I'll leave you to be alone with her" she said turning and leaving, Gakupo knelt by the bed, taking her head "Luna, my love...I don't know if you can understand me right now,  or if your even really there..But, please..Just hold on, I swear to you..We will make up thoes years we missed together, we will have a wonderful life together..I would do anything for you my Luna. Just don't go...Not like this.." He whispered softly

"Ga-Gakupo...." her voice was weak, barely above a whisper..He gently hushed her, caressing her face "Save your strength my love" he said softly "..D-Don't leave..Please.." she said holding his hand tightly now. He faught back his new tears, nodding "I'm not going anywhere, not without you" he whispered softly, moving the chair closer to her. Luna fell back to sleep, smiling softly as she felt him so close. It was comforting for her to know he was there..

The next morning, Gakupo woke up on the couch in Luna's room. The doctor had the chair beside him, the doctor had been mad at first when the nurse explained what she had done, but when he saw Gakupo sleeping so soundly, and Luna smiling for the first time since she walked in the anger turned to appriciation. With the Duke there, just maybe she'd make it through the night. The doctor smiled at the Duke gently, although Gakupo could not tell what his eyes read "Doctor..Is-Is she..." He smiled, shaking his head "She's fine, and..give a few days to regain her strength she'll be just fine..You can bring her home this friday..Now, as a Doctor I order you to go and eat, and get some decent sleep..She's been given some pain medication that will keep her asleep for some time..."

Gakupo was over-joyed that she would be alright, hugging the doctor gently he nodded "I will, thank you doctor." he said going out and going home to tell Luka the news...

Friday Gakupo was in the hospital in record speed, going up to Luna's room. His heart stopped however, Luna wasn't there..."Luna? Luna!" he said, starting to panic until the door opened behind him to see her walking in with a nurse holding her up "I'm here my love, I was just stretching my legs.." She said, he ran over and held her "Luna, my love..I was so afraid I had lost you.." he said kissing her gently. Luna smiled "I know, luka came first thing this morning and told me..." She frowned however "She also told me what you said last night...Gakupo, never, never do I want to hear that you blamed yourself again. It wasn't your fault, none of it was. I took that wound because I love you more then anything in this world.." she said wrapping her arms around him.

He smiled and nodded "I promise love, no more. Just promise me you'll never leave me again"

She smiled, nodding "Never, I promise"
